Healthy or Unhealthy Devolution: Should health function be reverted to National Government?
The health sector has faced serious issues sparking a heated debate among the public. On the Daily Report on TV47, there was a heated debate on the political interference in KEMSA for it to operate professionally.
Former KEMSA board member, Moses Mwangi said, in 2014, KEMSA was a body that was celebrated world-wide and other countries were coming for benchmarking.
There was mixed reaction on whether devolution made the situation worse than it already is, Nyeri MP Duncan Mathenge emphasized that counties have to stop depending solely on the money from Nairobi.
"Counties do generate their own revenues, the capacity is there. Nyeri for example can do value addition." He said. People agreed there needs to be a competitor to topple KEMSA and curb the monopoly it is enjoying.
