The government has announced plans to expand all the public irrigation schemes in the country. Further, it will ramp up 8 additional dams to boost irrigation through the national irrigation services strategy for 2022-2026. Water CS Alice Wahome points out that formulation of the strategy is a significant step towards demand-responsive investments to promote sustainable agriculture.
