More than 100 families have been left homeless in Likii slums Nanyuki , Laikipia County, after flash floods hit the village Thursday night. Heavy rains falling on Mt Kenya region have led to high volumes of water in the Likii River that flows through the slums. Residents say they were caught unawares by the raging waters leaving a trail of destruction estimated at millions of shillings. Nanyuki ward MCA Anthony Wambui has requested the government to act swiftly to help these victims as most of them are jobless and are therefore in dire need.
