117 Kenyan children who had attended a soccer tournament in neighbouring Tanzania are stuck at the Namanga Border, after the transporter contracted to ferry the children back to Nairobi refused to allow the buses carry on with the journey because he had not been paid by the organiser and Ligi Ndogo owner Chris Amimo. A parent of one of the children stuck in Namanga told Citizen Tv that the children had also been detained briefly at the hotel that was accomodating them because the organiser had allegedly not paid. Hotel and Tanzanian authorities agreed to let the group go because they were minors, but detained the owner of Ligi Ndogo who is also the organiser, and 3 other officials to ensure payment. Parents are at the moment raising money for alternative transport to Nairobi for the Children. The parents had been charged Ksh 50,000 per child for participation in the annual Chipukizi Soccer tournament in Arusha which was held from thursday the 16th to Sunday the 18th. Police in Namanga are already at the border trying to handle the situation alongside a few parents who have managed to get to the border post.
