The ongoing demolition by the government in flood prone areas has claimed the lives of two individuals in Mukuru Kwa Reuben. A 24 year old man and a 9 year old, were inside the house when the demolition exercise was ongoing on Saturday. Irate residents who caused a melee lamented the loss attributing it to the forced demolition before adequate relocation arrangements were made. Makadara Sub-County Police Commander Judy Nyongesa refuted the claims, asserting that the victims, perished while the residents were attempting to dismantle their houses. Meanwhile, Nairobi and other regions continue to grapple with devastating floods, prompting the closure of Kangundo Road at the Joska-Kamulu area due to rising water levels in the Athi River, rendering the bridge impassable.
