Menengai Crater is a massive shield volcano with one of the biggest calderas in the world. It is the largest volcano caldera in Kenya and the second largest volcano caldera in Africa.
An hike in this area is to the rim of Menengai Crater, high over Nakuru town. This huge volcanic crater is 12km across and 500m deep. It is possible to climb up to the craters edge (2272m) with spectacular views from the top.
Expect scenic site, Maumau caves,hot springs, geysers,wildlife mud pots among others.
Enjoy the climb up to the crater and descend to the floor of the crater and back. It’s an opportunity to shed off the week long stress with an early morning hike as you make new friends and tick off your bucket list.
