Safaricom's New Bundles, How Do They Work?

Predetermined packages are good because they have you prepared that this is what is available and so you can plan to have the money ready.

But what is even greater is if you can have the flexibility of still buying the same product at whichever quantity you want depending on the money you have. That is what freedom and having control over your spending is about.

Your financial situation will change through the month where in a certain period you have more but in others you have less. When it comes to bundles, the same rings true where we have to find products that match our browsing habits.

Well, Safaricom’s No Expiry bundles may just fit the bill in that respect. As part of its efforts to simplify its products, the company has unveiled a new data plan, and a new calling and SMS plan that will respectively offer data bundles and calling minutes with no expiry.

Both Data bundles, and Calls and SMS with no expiry are immediately available on *544#.

You get what you pay for depending on your browsing habits.

With the new packages, the amount of bundles is determined by the amount of money you wish to spend. What does no expiry really mean? The bundles will only end when you complete them, they can stay in your phone forever it you wish - just know the ‘power of the bundles’ is in your control.

To make a purchase simply follow these steps:

  • Dial *544# on your handset
  • Select ‘DATA (NO EXPIRY DATE)’ from the menu
  • Select purchase for own or other number
  • Enter the amount you wish to spend (be it 1 bob, Ksh100, Ksh1000 to Ksh999,999)
  • Select your preferred mode of payment - airtime, M-PESA
  • You will receive a message with details of your purchase

Data will not be preset, you can buy as much data as you want from as low as Ksh1 and it will no longer have an expiry date.

For example, when you have Ksh100 you can purchase 500MBS worth of data - with no expiry.

With Ksh5 you get 10MBs that does not expire while the Normal Bundles With Expiry you get only 7MB which you have to use in just 24 hours.

It's that simple, you can buy the new data plan with Airtime and M-PESA, with the thoughtful option of being able to buy some of the timeless bundles for bae as well.

The normal bundles with an expiry date are still available and will be used up first before the data in the new tariff, thereby, handing you the freedom to choose your preferred plan.

Did I mention that going forward, all subscribers will now be able to top up any amount of airtime and get 50% bonus, forever? Yep, the bonus is now a permanent feature not a timed promotion.

Buying airtime is also a simple process:

  • Dial *544# on your handset
  • Select ‘CALLS & SMS (NO EXPIRY DATE)’ from the menu
  • Select purchase for own or other number
  • Enter the amount you wish to spend (be it 1 bob, Ksh100, Ksh1000 to Ksh999,999)
  • Select your preferred mode of payment - airtime, M-PESA
  • You will receive a message with details of you purchase

The best thing is you don’t have to subscribe daily, just once until you have completely exhausted them.

Time to get me some bundles....
