Eight men arrested after couple brutally attacked in Newcastle

Eight men have been arrested following the attempted murder of a couple in their 60s in Newcastle’s Elswick area. Police were called to a home on Durham Street on Friday evening, where they found the victims with severe injuries. The woman remains in critical condition with serious head injuries, while the man is stable in hospital. An initial suspect in his 30s was arrested on Friday, with seven more suspects apprehended by Sunday.
