The national government says there is no cause for alarm over the current drought situation, revealing that six billion shillings has been released in the last 30 days to cushion vulnerable Kenyans. Deputy president professor Kithure Kindiki, while chairing the 14th development partners forum, said the government will now disburse two billion shillings every month to sustain drought response efforts. The funds will go towards the supply of food, water, and medical services in the worst-affected counties, even as the government appeals to development partners to match the monthly two billion shilling support.
