Retired chief justice and presidential aspirant David Maraga has raised concern over the state of education following the release of the 2025 KCSE results, where more than 350,000 candidates scored grade d+ and below. Maraga blames the poor performance on chronic underinvestment, citing teacher shortages, inadequate and overcrowded classrooms, lack of laboratories, and limited electricity in schools. He says the crisis, results from government prioritizing debt servicing, corruption, and political extravagance over investment in human capital.
