Justice Chacha Mwita, of the Constitution and Human Rights Division of the High Court mounted a firm defence of his independent judicial philosophy and track record as he sought promotion to the Court of Appeal. Appearing before the Judicial Service Commission interview panel, Justice Mwita underscored the delicate balance courts must strike between safeguarding individual rights and advancing the public interest.
