The government has pledged to connect households to electricity in all of the 290 constituencies by the end of this year, as part of an expanded last-mile electrification drive worth tens of billions of shillings. Energy and Petroleum Principal Secretary. Alex Wachira says the programme, which targets more than three hundred thousand new connections nationally, is already underway in Kilifi County, where villages that have lived without power for up to sixty years are now expecting electricity for the first time. The projects, funded by the national government and implemented by the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation are part of a broader plan to deliver universal electricity access, improve food security, and support economic growth.Ben Chumba reports Connect with KBC Online; Subscribe to our channel: https://t.ly/86BKNc Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.om/KBCChannel1 Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kbcchannel1TV Check our website: https://www.kbc.co.ke/ #kbcchannel1 #news #kbclive
