Six-year-old Maria Nashipai Wanjiru, a Grade 1 pupil at St. Joseph Comprehensive School in Murinduko, Mwea, Kirinyaga County, has launched a campaign called “One Girl, One Tree”, aiming to plant 10,000 trees over the next five years. Maria has already planted over 1,000 fruit trees to promote environmental conservation among children.
