Members of the Mrima Hills Community Forest Association in Kwale County have accused a section of local leaders attempting to divide residents along religious, cultural, and tribal lines over the proposed mining of the Mrima Hills area. The association claims that meetings concerning the future of the Mrima Hills mines are allegedly being held without the involvement of the affected community. According to the group, such engagements contradict ongoing efforts by both the national and county governments to address concerns raised by locals over mineral exploitation in the area.
