Govt pays KSh98M to St. Mary’s hospital, commits to clear remaining debt

    It’s a reprieve for patients in Mumias, after the Ministry of Health and st mary Mission Hospital management brokered a deal over payment of pending bills owed to the facility. A meeting between the two parties revealed that the hospital received a total of 98 million shillings over the last 9 months from sha and was pushing for a pending bill amounting to 143 million shillings owed to it by the defunct National Hospital Insurance Fund, NHIF. The revelation puts to an end recent political upheaval in which some local politicians blamed the Ministry of Health for the hospital's troubles.
