The inquest hearing into the death of Rex Kanyike Maasai took a new twist on Thursday after the National Police Service, through an application filed in the morning, claimed that a police armourer was compelled to release sensitive firearm registers without authorization and that the court failed to properly record the objections. The revelation prompted both the State and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority to seek more time to respond, with the court setting Thursday October 30, 2025 as the date for its ruling.
