The government has ordered the immediate withdrawal of payroll system access for 84 human resource officers drawn from the Kenya Prisons Service, Kenya Police Service and the Ministry of Health, following a probe into a suspected 6.2 billion shillings payroll fraud. The officers have also been directed to step aside for 30 working days as the government moves to safeguard public funds, seal payroll system loopholes and facilitate investigations into suspected irregular transactions.
