KCB dominate national sevens squad as 33 players target 12 slots

    National Sevens Series champions KCB RFC have almost their entire team drafted into the national sevens squad, with nine players called up to the provisional team. Kabras RFC also have their entire starting seven in the squad, as 33 players have been selected to begin training on Thursday. Run VCR. Festus Safari and Richel Wangila join the usual KCB players in the national team, as the 33 players fight for just 12 slots in the final squad. Flavian Otiyo from Masinde Muliro University and Brighton Omondi from Kenya Harlequins are the surprise inclusions. Despite having nine players in the national team, KCB will still prepare their sevens team for the Safari Sevens tournament next month in Nairobi. KCB defended their National Sevens crown after finishing the 2026 season with 115 points. They finished third in the last tournament after beating bitter rivals Kabras 5-0 in sudden death.
