Mike Sonko bursts into tears while testifying in graft case

Architect Dr Arthur Mwaura on Tuesday took to the stand at the Environment and Lands Court in Milimani, Nairobi, to explain why he ignored an enforcement notice issued by Nairobi County Government over the development of a residential building located in Gigiri near the United States embassy in the year 2015. Dr Mwaura failed to produce the architectural drawings of a three-storey structure duly approved by the physical planning department of Nairobi City County. AND, day two of the defence hearing for former Nairobi City County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko continued at the anti-corruption court in Milimani, Nairobi. Sonko burst into tears while testifying in the graft case linking him to a 20 million shillings procurement irregularities scandal during his tenure at City Hall. The defence hearing is set to continue on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, when the former governor is expected to be cross-examined.
