Ugandans throng polling stations to elect new leaders

Uganda’s general election has been marked by low voter turnout in several parts of the country and widespread failure of biometric voter verification machines, forcing election officials to switch to manual verification to keep the process going. The vote also took place amid an internet and social media blackout, after the government ordered nationwide restrictions.
