More than 27,000 healthcare workers in Kakamega, Siaya, Nakuru and Mombasa counties are set to benefit from a vaccination campaign against influenza in phase two of the pilot program.
The exercise, which has been launched in Kakamega county, will run until the 19th of September 2025 and targets doctors, nurses, clinical officers and subordinate staff in proximity to patients. According to Kakamega County Chief Officer in charge of Medical Services, David Allilah, the vaccination is aimed at controlling the possible spread of the influenza virus from healthcare workers to patients and vice versa.
