There is divided opinion among a section Soweto Catholic Church congregants and residents, regarding the move by Catholic Archbishop Philip Anyolo, who announced the rejection of a 2.8 million shillings donation made at Soweto Catholic Church, in accordance with the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops directives and the Public Fundraising Appeals Bill 2024. The residents and Church attendees spoke in Kayole, Embakasi East constituency, hours after the Archdiocese of Nairobi re-affirmed its commitment to the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops' policy on political donations to the Church.
