Wanamibia wafurahia kuchaguliwa rais wa kwanza mwanamke
Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah amekuwa mwanamke wa kwanza kuchaguliwa kuwa rais nchini Namibia.
Nandi-Ndaitwah, mwenye umri wa miaka 72, aligombea urais kwa chama kinachotawala cha SWAPO.
Ushindi wake utaendeleza uitawala wa miaka 34 wa SWAPO madarakani, tangu Namibia ilipopata uhuru kutoka kwa Afrika kusini mwaka 1990.
Tume ya uchaguzi ya Namibia imetangaza matokeo rasmi yanayoonyesha kwamba amepata asilmia 57 ya kura.
Kulingana na katiba ya Namibia, mshindi wa kura za urais anahitajika kupata asilimia 50 ya kura.
Baada ya kutangazwa mshindi, Nandi – Ndaitwah amesema kwamba wapiga kura wa Namibia wamechagua amani na utulivu.
Amekuwa mwanachama wa SWAPO tangu miaka ya 1960 wakati chama hicho kilikuwa kinapigania uhuru na amehudumu katika nafasi mbalimbali za ngazi ya juu serikalini ikiwemo waiziri wa mambo ya nje.
Mshindani wake mkuu Panduleni Itula, wa chama cha Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), amemaliza katika nafasi ya pili kwa akiwa na asilimia 29 ya kura.
Chama cha IPC kimedai udanganyifu katika uchaguzi huo na kimesema kitapinga matokeo mahakamani.
Uchaguzi wa Nove 27 ulikumbwa na matatizo ya kiufundi na uhaba wa karatasi za kupigia kura na kupelekea matokeo kuchelewa kutangazwa.
