Council of Governors health committee chairperson and Tharaka Nithi governor Muthomi Njuki now wants both levels of government to prioritize conditional medication during procurement.
Governor Njuki who spoke in Igamatundu, Chuka Igambang’ombe constituency during the burial of a community leader Edwin Mbumba Mbungu, said community health promoters, who have close contact with the community, have given data on conditions such as diabetes and blood pressure and medication should be available at all times.
According to the health committee chairperson, counties should also prioritize the purchase of these key medications and avail them at the lowest levels of healthcare access
The call by governor Njuki comes at a time the country is facing a shortage of BCG medication
