Kiambu County has distributed free farm inputs, including piglets, improved kienyeji chicks, maize seeds, and fertilizer to over 5,000 farmers in Juja Sub-County as part of its efforts to boost farmers. Speaking during the event Governor Kimani Wamatangi said his administration is keen on ensuring value addition in the agricultural sector. Men's groups, including youth who have been grappling with unemployment were given piglets as start-up packages to help them have decent income-generating activities. More than 1,000 women got improved kienyeji chicks as a seed capital for poultry farming, while the rest were given maize seeds, fertilizer, and avocado seedlings ahead of the next planting season in April.
