Residents of Soroko in Lamu West Constituency are embroiled in a land ownership dispute, with the locals expressing concerns about alleged harassment and intimidation from newcomers asserting ownership of their land. The situation has left the community in distress, as they fear losing land they have occupied for over two decades. According to the residents, the newcomers have been aggressively asserting ownership of the land, threatening their lives and forcing them to vacate the area. They are now pointing fingers at the area's assistant chief, Nahashon Nyagah, for colluding with brokers to enable the illegal acquisition and sale of the land, leaving the rightful owners exposed and dispossessed.
