With President William Ruto expected to visit the Mt Kenya region next week for the first time since the impeachment of his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua, the tour has elicited mixed reactions in the vote-rich region which has since turned hostile to the Kenya Kwanza regime since Gachagua's impeachment. the last time the president was in the region was in September 2024. since then, he has stayed away from a region that overwhelmingly voted for him in the 2022 general election. This comes even as the President today met with Mt. kenya governors and CSS in what is seen as a strategy to make his tour successful. amid the said hostility, residents say the president is welcome but want him to address gachagua's impeachment among other development matters.
