The national police service commission has today been dealt a major blow, after the high court barred it from recruiting police officers. In a judgement issued Thursday, the employment and labour relations court said that the mandate to recruit lies with the national police service, terming the recruitment drive advertised by the commission as unconstitutional. The court directed the review of the National Police Service Commission Act and the National Police Service Act to avoid inteference with the powers of the inspector general of police.
