There was joy and celebration on Saturday evening in Kiaga village, Kirinyaga Central Constituency, after a 75-year-old man, Peter Kimani Mbote, returned home following his release from prison. Kimani, who had been serving a 15-year sentence at Ruiru Prison, is among 57 inmates set free after President William Ruto exercised his constitutional prerogative of mercy.
