Kalonzo opposes list of proposed IEBC commissioners

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has accused President William Ruto of being partisans in the appointment of the new independent electoral and boundaries commission chairperson and commissioners. Kalonzo criticized the president for failing to consult opposition leaders and other stakeholders before nominating Erastus Edung Ethekon as the iebc chairperson, a move he says has undermined public trust and will create a low-confidence electoral body. He further alleged that the president's pick signals an intention to rig the upcoming by-elections and the 2027 general election insisting the opposition will reject the names fronted.
