Scrap metal stakeholders, under the newly launched Ecosteel Scrap Metal Dealers’ Association, have welcomed the government's ban on scrap metal imports, saying it will boost local businesses. Speaking in Ongata Rongai, Secretary General John Okoth urged the government to address long-standing grievances, including harassment by county askaris and police, and the lack of license recognition. The group hopes the new association will help improve the business environment.
