There is a growing call for increased female participation in leadership roles within community structures, especially as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections. Leaders are urging more women to step forward and seek positions not only on Community Wildlife Conservancies boards but also in Community Land Management Committees and elective political offices.
The Chief Economic Programmes Officer for “ Mashinani Works” who also chairs the gender Committee at the Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) Ture Boru noted that the positive contribution made by women in the Conservation sector is proof that they deserve more positions of leadership. They spoke during the Fifth Annual Women Leadership Summit for Women in Conservation that took place in Isiolo County.
