A Nairobi court has extended orders barring the arrest of four Kenyan filmmakers arrested by police in early May over allegations of making a false publication. The extension comes after the director of public prosecutions (DPP) requested three additional weeks to conclude investigations into the four individuals. Defense counsel argued that clarity is needed on whether the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) intends to press charges. The court has issued a summons for Chief Inspector Nixon Kinyua and Mogaah Wekesa Wechuli to appear on June 16. The filmmakers, Nicholas Wambugu, Brian Adagala, Mark Denver Karubiu, and Christopher Wamae, were arrested on 2nd May at their studio in Karen, Nairobi. Police confiscated their equipment during the arrest. The prosecution stated that the seized devices are undergoing forensic analysis.
