Four people have died and several others injured after a gold mine collapsed in Turkwel, West Pokot County in the wee hours of Saturday morning. West Pokot County Police Commander Abdullahi Jire Mohamed confirming the tragedy says the mine has being shut indefinitely as investigations begin to ascertain the circumstances around the 3 am tragic incident. This comes barely 48 hours after residents protested the closure of the mines amid concerns by local leaders on the environmental impact and safety of the miners. Ben Chumba reports.
