A police station and the homes of police officers manning the Gitama police station in Igembe North have been burnt down. The incident followed a violent protest by local youths in response to the arrest of their counterpart who they believed was being held at the police station. The suspect who had been arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing someone from the neighboring village, had however been moved to a different location.
