Chaos on Thika Road, Kitengela as fresh waves of anti-government protests erupted

Tension gripped parts of Nairobi and Kajiado counties today as fresh waves of anti-government protests erupted on the one-year anniversary of last year’s deadly Gen Z-led demonstrations. Along Thika Road, crowds of youthful protesters poured onto the highway, overpowering police barricades and bringing traffic to a standstill as they pushed toward the Nairobi CBD. The atmosphere was equally charged in Kitengela, where demonstrators blocked the busy Nairobi–Namanga highway, sparking running battles with riot police.
