Busia County Commissioner Mwachaunga Chaunga says the government will not relent in its efforts to curb the sale and consumption of illicit alcohol. Mwachaunga spoke at Busia KMTC during the International Day against drug abuse, where he urged liquor joint owners to adhere to the standard operating procedures set out for them to avoid closure and apprehension. NACADA and the county government have, in the meantime, launched an operation to arrest and close down illegally operated joints that are selling alcohol to underage persons, thereby exposing them to drugs and substance abuse.
