2 accused persons in the murder of Blogger Albert Ojwang,have filed a petition seeking stop murder trial against them. In the petition, Central Police Station OCS Samson Taalam and James Mukhwana had asked the High Court to halt the murder trial and instead order an inquest into the blogger's death. Represented by lawyer Danstan Omari, Taalam argued that the High Court had jurisdiction and should hear the matter. However, justice Lawrence Mugambi declined the application and directed that the petition be transfered to the Kibera Law Courts. The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), In a responding affidavit has opposed the attempt by the police officers to block their prosecution terming the move as a calculated effort to evade justice.
