National carrier Kenya Airways says its capacity is likely to be reduced by 20 percent this year following the grounding of three aircraft. CEO Allan Kilavuka says the delays in spare parts could see the carrier passenger number reduce by up to 500 thousand this year as the scarcity of spare parts continues to frustrate the aviation industry globally. The airline is further urging the government to implement a reciprocal regulatory framework to curb what it calls "capacity dumping" by larger international carriers. The airline says aggressive competition from well-resourced rivals is distorting the market and straining its recovery, which has seen them explore new routes to optimise capacity.
