Water vendors and suppliers in Homa Bay are raising concerns over a recent increase in water tariffs by the Homa Bay water and sanitation company. They say the hike on the price per cubic meter is unbearable in the current economic times and could force many of them out of the business. They`re now petitioning the water company to review and reduce the charges that have gone from a previous 35 shillings to 145 shillings per cubic meter. HOMAWASCO managing director Tom Nyonje, however, defended this move, saying the revised tariffs were proposed and approved by the water services regulatory board
