The Richard Kihatu-led side lost to African power house Rwanda 25-16, 25-15 and 25-20. Only two teams are in the women tournament, both earning straight tickets to represent africa in the world championship. Their men counterparts are currently facing algeria with egypt registering a 3-0 win over south africa in the earlier match at the same venue.
