    The intergovernmental authority on development is calling on governments to implement gender responsive land policies to ensure women`s land rights are given central priority. IGAD deputy executive secretary Mohamed Abdi termed gender responsive policies as investments that pay dividends in food security, economic growth and climate resilience. Kenyan women parliamentarians, on their part called for investments in leadership, capacity building and creating safe spaces for women to participate in land governance and climate adaptation.
