The Ministry of Health has now called on Kenyans to remain calm, following the reported cases of deaths due to an unidentified illness in Mombasa. Speaking in Kisumu, health Director General Patrick Amoth indicated that preliminary investigations showed that the four fatalities had pre-existing conditions. Samples drawn from the four bodies have been taken to KEMRI for further analysis. Four people died in Mombasa over the last two weeks, after showing similar symptoms which include pus filled wounds on their bodies. Public Health and Professional Standards PS Mary Muthoni says ministry health officials have already been sent to the ground to bolster efforts by the county government.
