Kenya has dropped one place to 127th in peacefulness out of 167 countries globally in the 2025 State of Peace Report released by the Institute for Economics and Peace. Due to protests in the country, which have claimed tens of lives, Women in Alternative Dispute resolution have urged the government to prioritize peace mechanisms like mediation and reconciliation to foster peace in the country. According to the report, Sub-Saharan Africa recorded deterioration in peacefulness by 0.17% over the past year due to an increase in political unrest and terrorism in the Sahel region.
