A day after Citizen TV highlighted the plight of baby Vickam, who had been detained at Abyan Hospital in Eastleigh, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has intervened. The council has ordered Abyan Hospital to release the child immediately. KMPDC officers visited Abyan Hospital in Eastleigh to effect and oversee the transfer and later accompanied the baby and his mother to the Kenyatta teaching and referral hospital, where he will receive the requisite treatment. KMPDC CEO DR. David Kariuki says the council has launched investigations into the operations of the facility.
