- 66 viewsA young man in Oruba - Ragana area has become the epitome of emulation by the youths in Migori in his pursuit to counter the crime rate in the area by luring youths into pursuing craft courses in technical training institutes. Through working with the SAGOMA Community-Based Organisation (CBO), to sensitise the youth on the importance of education, Samwel Ouru now boasts of a drastic reduction of crime in the area, which was previously a black spot of crime marked with burglary, drug, and substance abuse among the youth. By focusing on the vulnerable youths in the society, a total of 120 youths have benefited from the initiative, with the majority being self-employed, thanks to the close relationship with the local administration. However, with the evolving world, he now calls on the government and well-wishers to support his dream of having a sustainable Technical Training Institute offering ICT courses to equip the youths with digital skills.
