Hundreds of Kisii residents received free orthopedic medical camp from the Mairura family foundation, a non-profit organization registered in the United States. The team of 15 American doctors and nurses performed 40 free hip and knee replacement surgeries as well as surgical fracture treatment for underserved communities. During the medical camp, an additional 1,000 patients received various non-operative treatments for common orthopedic and spine ailments. The Mairura Family Foundation donated medical equipment to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital in November 2023.
