Two people, including a former commissioner of lands, have been charged at the Milimani law courts with conspiracy to fraudulently acquire two prime parcels of land in Nairobi West, valued at over 300 million shillings. Brian Kiptoo Kiplagat and Sammy Silas Komen Mwaita, the former commissioner of lands, face seven criminal charges ranging from conspiracy to commit a felony, making documents without authority, abuse of office, and giving false information to a public officer. According to the charge sheet, the accused persons are alleged to have conspired on or before March 30th, 2001. Mwaita denied the charges when he appeared before a Nairobi court. The first accused, Brian Kiptoo Kiplagat has been summoned to take a plea.
