Ruto signs gambling control bill into law

President William Ruto has officially signed the Gambling Control Bill of 2023 into law, ushering in major reforms aimed at streamlining Kenya’s gambling industry. The new law establishes the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya, a powerful corporate body that will replace the Betting Control and Licensing Board. It will be tasked with overseeing all gambling activities in the country, including licensing, monitoring, and enforcing standards, while also addressing public complaints and socio-economic impacts such as addiction.
