The government, through the State Department for Special Programmes, has stepped in to rescue El Molo Bay Primary School, in Loiyangalani, Marsabit County, from the encroaching waters of Lake Turkana.Speaking during a government outreach event under the Huduma Smart–Serikalini initiative, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Geoffrey Ruku, assured the local community of immediate government support to relocate the school to higher and safer ground. The rising water levels have, in recent years, caused a decline in students' enrolment, forcing the remaining students to cross by boat every day.
